It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wavel Hugh Guidry, 85, of Lake Arthur on October 27, 2022, surrounded by his family while listening to Cajun music.

Visitation will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur on Monday, October 31, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Father Roland Vaughn will officiate the service. A rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

He was born on February 25, 1937, to Rhule and Aurelia Guidry in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. He served our country proudly from 1955 to 1958 in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion.  Wavel worked as a welder offshore for Reading and Bates for many years. He retired from Citgo petroleum after 30 years. He loved fishing and riding in his boat down the Mermentau River and then going home and frying fresh fish while listening to Cajun Music and drinking his beer. He adored his grandchildren and loved having them stand on his feet while he two-step to his music. He loved spending time with family and cherished every moment with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jeanette; daughters, Denise (Leonard) Vincent of Klondike and Shelly Hanks (Mike) of Lake Arthur; son, Brad Guidry of Pine Prairie; seven grandchildren, Cody Guidry, Jennifer Guidry, Tania Guidry, Ryan Guidry, Hali LeFleur, Cory Vincent and Lacey Vincent; and nine great grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; son, Randy Guidry; sister, Effie Toups; brothers, Golden Guidry and Curtis Guidry; Son-in-Law Hoyt Hanks; and his best little buddy, his dog Coco.
