Wallace Prather

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Wallace Prather, 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Church of Christ with Douglas Broyles officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., today, Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church until time of services. Mr. Prather died at 10:55 a.m., Sunday, October 5, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Prather was a lifelong resident of Jennings. He was a retired welder for Olin Chemical and was owner and operator of Prathers Grocery Store from 1945 until 1972. He was a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Prather was an avid gardener and member of the Church of Christ where he served as deacon for 20+ years. Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his wife Amay Trahan Prather and one daughter, Jacqueline Jackie Prather Bowers. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Ann Prather Green of Jennings; two sons, Terry Wayne and Randall Keith Prather both of Jennings; three sisters, Aline Prather and Vern Prather both of Jennings and Ethel Gunnels of Lyndon, Tennessee; two brothers Harry Prather of Denham Springs and John Prather of Jennings; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
