JENNINGS 

Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Ann Guidry Richard, 93, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 in the Immaculate Conception with Reverand Charles McMillin and the Very Reverand Anthony Fontenot officiating.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Funeral home visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday; and 8:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.

A Cursilla Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Richard was a native of Port Barre and a resident of Jennings 70+ years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Ladies Altar Society and was a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 3686. Mrs. Richard was co-owner and founder of the original Southern Barbecue Sauce.

Survivors include five daughters, Phyllis Ann Benoit of Sugarland, TX, Gwen Walker of Wilmington, NC, Sharon Core and husband Jerry of Slidell, Dianna Abell and husband Chuck of Welsh, Bernadine Trahan and husband Louis of Jennings; one son, Murphy G. Richard, Jr. of Jennings; one sister, Elizabeth Tywater and husband Walker of Alvin, TX; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Richard is preceded in death by her parents, Olide Thomas and Armide Hebert Guidry; her husband, Murphy G. Richard; four grandchildren, Robert Louis Trahan, Emily Abell, Randall Paul Perry, Richard Carl Perry; two sisters, Betty Jo Meilsch and Edna Fraunberger; and four brothers, Clement, Hillard, Woodrow and Lenton Guidry.
