JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Virgie Soileau Gatte, 95, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Miller French Baptist Church with the Revs. Garland W. Reed and Aulden LeBlanc, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Miller French Church Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, January 23; and 8:00 a.m. at the church Tuesday until time of services. Mrs. Gatte died at 3:40 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at her daughters residence. Mrs. Gatte was a lifelong resident of the Iota area and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Miller French Baptist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Barbara G. Suffrin of Iota, Peggy G. LeBlanc, Sr. and husband Aulden of Jennings, Manila G. Deese and husband Charles of Jennings, Norma G. Watkins and husband Walter of Lafayette; three sons, Jimmie Gotte and wife Marie of Crowley, Eward Gotte and wife Bonnie of Iota, Wallace Gotte and wife Bonnie of Jennings; 31 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren; one son-in-law, Michael W. Smith; and three daughters-in-law, Linda, Jeanette and Patricia Gotte. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ledovic and Amanda Persall Soileau; her husband, Clifford Gotte; daughter, Thelma Smith; four sons, John L. Gatte, Jerrie D. Gatte, Curby Gotte, C.J. Gotte, Jr.; grandchildren, Sheila Ewing, Barry Gotte, Jennifer Gotte and two sons-in-law, Sherman Ewing and Gilbert Suffrin. Thanks to the Southern Care Hospice, Jennings American Legion Hospital, from emergency to all staff, Acadian Ambulance staff, Rev. Garland Reed, and to all friends and family who visited and prayed for her. Pallbearers will be Jimmie, Eward and Wallace Gotte, Aulden LeBlanc, Jr., Heath Deese, and Jeffrey Watkins.
