JENNINGS A Mass of Christian Burial for Vida Derouen Gallaugher, 95, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. Gallaugher died peacefully on Wednesday, March 5 in New Orleans, and will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Mrs. Gallaugher will join her beloved husband, Frank Gallaugher, in the arms of Our Lord. Mr. Gallaugher died last July after celebrating 71 years of married life together as Frank and Vida. Born in Bell City, LA on July 4, 1918, she moved to Lake Charles with her parents, Ida and Faymond Derouen. She graduated from St. Charles Academy, attended Vincent Business School, and was employed at the Lake Charles American Press. She married Franklin A. Gallaugher in 1941 and lived in Lake Charles with her parents and their daughter until he returned in 1945 from service in the 8th Army Air Force. In 1947, the family, with the addition of a baby boy, moved to Jennings, where Vida lived until after the death of her husband. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and Altar Society. She was an early member of Entre Nous and was most proud to be a 30-year volunteer at the Jennings American Legion Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Jan Pendleton (Jeffrey), a son, John Kendall Gallaugher, six grandchildren including Jeff Pendleton (Ashley), Valerie Pendleton, Will Pendleton, Sarah Pendleton Perry (Rob), Lauren Gallaugher Zeller (Kevin), Franklin E. Gallaugher, and three great-grandchildren Mason Perry, Evan Perry, and Lillie Jane Pendleton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
