Funeral services for Mrs. Vernice Fontenot McLean will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, Louisiana with Father Jay Alexius officiating.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.

Mrs. McLean passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at 9:33 p.m. at her residence in Lake Arthur, Louisiana.

Mrs. McLean was a native of Rayne, Louisiana but spent nearly her entire life in the town of Lake Arthur. She was a retired cafeteria worker in Lake Arthur. She enjoyed cutting grass, French dancing and she loved to cook. Her whole world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Jeanitta Gaspard, Ruby Broussard, and Kathleen Broussard of Lake Arthur and Sharon (Frank) Yancey of Hathaway; thirteen grandchildren: thirty-six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. McLean was preceded in death by her husband Alcee “Pierre” McLean; her parents Henry Fontenot and Mariala Simon Fontenot; three sisters, Ethel LeJeune, Rena McNeal, and Virginia McNeal; three brothers, Sanford, Clifton and Nelson Fontenot; three grandchildren Kimberly Dawn White, Blaine Kibodeaux and Jordan Scott Sonnier; a great grandchild Joseph Hoy White, Jr.
