Vera Gartner Tipton

April 26, 1925 — January 2, 2013

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Gartner Tipton, 87, will be held at 3:30 p.m., today, Saturday, January 5, 2012 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Wells officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m., today, Saturday until time of services. Mrs. Tipton died at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at her daughters residence in Humble, Texas. Mrs. Tipton was a native of Rosepine, La.and seven year resident of Humble, TX, moving there from Jennings. She was a graduate of Richards High School, class of 1943 in Richards, MO. Mrs. Tipton loved to sew, quilt and crochet. She and her husband always had a big garden. Her most beautiful sewing work was the dress she made for her oldest granddaughter. She made her children and grandchildren beautiful quilts. Survivors include three daughters, Marion Cooper of Sulphur, Judy Naquin and husband Stephen of Cleveland, TN, Karla Carte and husband Mark of Humble, TX; three sisters, Darlene Teel of Liberty, Tx, Anita Cook of Troy, MO, Mary Coker of Daisetta, TX; one brother, Howard Gartner of Liberty, TX; six grandchildren, Deanna Cooper-Smith, Frank Cooper, Keri Naquin-Cochran, Brandon Naquin, Josh Carte and Ben Carte; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen Edward and Ada Smith Gartner; her husbands, William Tipton, Sr. and Tony Vessel, a son, William “Bill” Tipton, two brothers, one sister, and a son-in-law, Michael Lynn Cooper
