Funeral services for Mr. Velton Charles Deitz, 84, of Abbeville, will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel. A burial will follow in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.

The visitation for Mr. Deitz will begin Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Deitz passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on May 24, 1939, in Iota to Edward and Mable Miller Dietz. He was a high school graduate and lived in Abbeville for the past 58 years. He served his country honorably in the Army.

Those left to cherish his memory are his spouse of 58 years, Gertie Renard Deitz; son, Dayton (Deidra) Deitz of New Iberia; daughter, Chris (Brud) Lege of Kaplan; four grandchildren, Tristie Granger, Blaise Lege, Rylan Deitz, Caroline Deitz; one sister, Evaline Regan of Iota; and one brother, Joseph Lee (Hilda) Dietz of Iota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ruth Richardson, Rita Conner, Mavis Dietz, Doris Regan; and six brothers, Marvin, Roland, Freddie, Aubrey, Francis and Bruce Dietz.
