Thelma H. Kopnicky

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Kopnicky, 80, of Welsh, will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10:00 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.  Burial will follow in Thornwell Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Kopnicky will begin on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. and will close at 10:00 p.m.  A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. It will resume Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time to leave for church.

She was born on June 9, 1941, in Lake Arthur, to Walter and Nola Trahan Henry.  She worked as a nutritionist in the education field.   She lived in her community 54+ years.  Mrs. Kopnicky especially enjoyed time spent her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and her sisters.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Tressa (Greg) Trahan of Boerne, TX and Tina (Bryan) Weekly of Lake Arthur; three sons, Jonny Kopnicky of Lake Arthur, Jody (Jackie) Kopnicky of DeQuincy and Jimmy (Anita) Kopnicky of Thibodeaux; three sisters, Faye (David) Ardoin and Claudine (Leland) Dupuis all of Jennings and Pam Bertrand of Lake Arthur; a brother, Jude Henry of Baton Rouge; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jon Kopnicky; her parents; her daughters-in-law, Carleen and Sandra Kopnicky, her sisters, Myrna Oliver, and Walterine LaFleur and a granddaughter, Brittany Kopnicky.
