Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Broussard, 87, will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Jay Alexius officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and will continue until 8:00 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Arthur. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., which will be the time to depart for church.

Mrs. Broussard was born February 24, 1935, in Los Angeles, California to Alman and Florence Grummons Teigen. She married James Broussard in 1954 then moved to Lake Arthur. She and her mother owned a business in the late 1960’s, Sit-N-knit, where they taught people how to crochet and knit. She was Secretary at Lake Arthur Elementary from 1969-1975. On July 1, 1975, she transferred to the Jeff Davis Parish School Board Central Office as a Payroll Bookkeeper until her retirement in 1994. She loved to crochet, knit, and spend precious time with her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jamie (Bernan) Theunissen of Jennings and Susan (Ray) Matt of Lake Arthur; sons, Dale Broussard of Lake Arthur, Drew (Betsy) Broussard of Friendswood, TX, and Duke (Courtney) Broussard of Lake Arthur; one brother, David (Shawna) Teigen of Eureka Springs, AR; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Broussard; and one grandchild, Kristen LaBauve.
