Ruth R. Bertrand

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Rutherford Bertrand, 92, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the Lake Arthur United Methodist Church with Rev. Lamarylis Cotton officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation was from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Mrs. Bertrand died at 6:16 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010 in the Village Creek Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton, Texas. Mrs. Bertrand was born January 26, 1918 in Lake Arthur, LA to Ralph and Ava Rutherford. After her marriage to John Leo Bertrand she resided in Lumberton, TX for 30 years. She retired from Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX as a Registered Nurse. Upon her retirement she moved back to her home, Lake Arthur, LA and lived there until 2007. While in Lake Arthur she was an active member of First United Methodist Church and participated in the Missionary Society and Library Club. Survivors include one son, Ralph Bertrand and wife Linda of Lumberton, TX; two granddaughters, Holly Woollen and Jami Hill both of Lumberton, TX; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Woollen, Makenzi Hill, Mason Hill and Madison Hill all of Lumberton, TX. She is also survived by two nieces, Kathy LaCour of Lafayette, LA, Tanya Tupper of Bell City, LA and one nephew, Juan Broussard of Lake Arthur, LA and many great nieces and nephews.
