Lake Arthur A Memorial Service for Ruben Lee Buster Ransom, Jr. 64, will be held Saturday August 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Lake Arthur with Rev. Darrell Hieronymous. Mr. Ransom died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Ransom was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. During his youth, he played trumpet in a popular area band, the Nomads. After his military service, he owned and operated Rubens Service Station. He served on the Goretti School Board. He was a member of the Roanoke Baptist Church, a retired auto mechanic instructor, a member of the American Legion and served in the U. S. Navy as a computer tech. He attended McNeese State University and USL and acquired an Associate Degree. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Belinda LeFort Ransom of Lake Arthur, three sons, Matthew Douglas Ransom of Baton Rouge; Eric Todd Ransom and wife Ashley of Dague, South Korea and Benjamin Blake Ransom of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Rosemarie Sonnier of Lake Arthur and Linda Bietel of Welsh; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Charlotte Ransom of Sinking Springs, PA; a brother-in-law, Clinton LeFort of Union, MO; three sisters-in-law, Naomi (Greg) Stagg of Lake Arthur, LA, Roxanne (Nelson) Yount of West Monroe, LA, and Rochelle (Paul) Thibodeaux of Broussard; and 21 nieces and nephews. Mr. Ransom was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Ina Rose Bertrand Ransom; brother, Albert Joseph Ransom; two nephews, Adam Thibodeaux and Aaron Joseph Ransom; a niece, Robin Bietel; four brothers-in-law, Paul LeFort, Jr., Jimmy Earl, Edward Sonnier and Bryon D. LeFort; two sisters-in-law, Pauline LeFort and Judy Ransom and his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Lois LeFort.
