Celebration of Life Services for Ronald Wayne “Rooster” Smith, 74, of Jennings, will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, with Phil Doucet, co-minister of Christ’s Church of Jennings and Pastor Charles “Butch” Brunt officiating.  His family has honored his wishes of cremation.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, and continue until the 4:00 p.m. service.

Mr. Smith was born on November 1, 1948, to Wallace “Kiki” Smith and Dorothy Schlesinger Smith.  He graduated from Lake Arthur High School in 1966 and earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Louisiana College in Pineville on an athletic scholarship.  He served in the National Guard for six years. He was a natural salesman, selling cars with his father at Kiki Smith Motors, and later as an agricultural salesman. Mr. Smith loved hunting and was an excellent marksman.  He enjoyed watching sports and old westerns.  He loved people and regardless of where he traveled, he usually found someone he knew.  He never knew a stranger.  His wonderful sense of humor made him the life of the party.  He doted on his children and grandchildren.  He was loved dearly and will be missed by all.

Those left to cherish the wonderful memories are his wife, Lindsey Miller Smith; two daughters, Candace (Bryce) Conner of Jennings and Nicole (Lamar) Moller of Welsh; six grandchildren, Tristan (McKinney Ferland) Lewis of Raleigh, NC, Madison (Jason) Carpenter of Moss Bluff, Breydon Conner and Brennon Conner, both of Jennings, and Elliot McMillin and Ian McMillin, both of Welsh; one great-granchild, Cohen Fox and one on the way; his aunt, Rose Schlesinger of Lake Arthur; and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Wallace “Kiki” Smith; mother, Dorothy Schlesinger Smith; stepmother, Ann Smith; brother, Tommy Smith and sister- in -law Carla Smith.
