Robert "Bobby" Chapman

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. Robert R. Chapman, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., today, Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. A rosary led by the Knights of Columbus will be recited at 7:00 p.m., today, Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Chapman died at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, graduate of the Lake Arthur High School class of 1945, graduated from SLI, now ULL in 1952 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and was a retired machinist. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 3012. He loved his family more than anything. He was connected to God enjoying Gods gifts of nature being an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was the #1 fan of the Lake Arthur High School Girls basketball team and Cajun Express AAU team. He spent many weekends at basketball tournaments with Rosie and family. His best times were spent piddling at the machine shop with sons and sons-in-law and visiting with two of his best friends, Franklin Price and Thomas Pete and his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for constantly wearing the sweetest most contagious smile imaginable. Survivors include his wife, Adeline Benoit Chapman of Lake Arthur; three daughters, Roberta Chapman Palermo and husband Bobby of Lake Arthur, Rosie Chapman Shaw and husband Joey of Lake Arthur, Clarissa Chapman Menard and husband Troy of Covington; four sons, John P. Chapman and wife Sheila Chapman of Singapore, Tom Chapman and wife Katie of Cypress, TX, Chris Chapman and wife Mary Ellen of Lumberton, TX, Bill Chapman and wife Tania of Lake Arthur; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mary Reimers Chapman.
