Robert Anthony Reed “Tony”, 76, of Jennings, Louisiana passed away in Jennings on June 6, 2021.  Tony was born in Jennings on November 27, 1944 to Iona Rampmaier Reed (Sis) and Samuel Wallace Reed, Sr. (Wallace).  He graduated from Jennings High School, attended LSU, and graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas.

Tony was married to Carolyn Wesch Reed until her passing on November 22, 2012.  Together they had three children, Michelle Reed James, Michael Reed, and Melissa Reed Simpson.

Tony was honorably discharged from the Army as a Captain on March 16, 1972.  During his service, he served two tours in Vietnam as a fixed wing aviator (Birddog pilot) receiving multiple medals and commendations.  He worked as a registered nurse, a business owner, a consultant, a woodworker, and a wood carver.  Tony’s talent was beyond measure.  If someone needed something, Tony was quite often the first call.

After Carolyn’s passing, Tony married Deborah Anne Howell (Debi).  Tony and Debi enjoyed working in their yard, traveling, and taking care of their bull mastiff, Brody.

Tony was the oldest of twelve children born to Wallace and Sis.  His siblings are: Daniel Patrick Reed, Richard Allen Reed (Dickie), Gary Paul Reed (T-Paul), Marie Elaine Walker (Elaine), Samuel Wallace Reed, Jr. (Sammy), Kenneth Charles Reed (Kenny), Margaret Ann Stelly, Katherine Louise Carrier (Kathy), Thomas Wayne Reed (Tommy), Mary Elizabeth Reed (Liz), and John Edwin Reed.

Tony is survived by his wife, Debi; his children, Michelle James and her husband Kevin of Henderson, Nevada, Melissa Simpson and her husband Keven of Levelland, Texas, Michael and his wife Ashley Stephens Reed of DeQuincy, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Adam Goodreau, Jordan James, Kelsey Armstrong, Carson Brockette, Wyatt Morgan, Seuzette Simpson, and Emily Reed; his siblings, Daniel and his wife, Krista, Elaine, Kenny, Margaret and her husband Matt Stelly, Kathy and her husband Dewith Carrier, Liz, and John and his wife Rachel; and many nieces and nephews.

Tony was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn; his parents, Wallace and Sis; his siblings, Dickie, T-Paul, Sammy, and Tommy; his brother-in-law, Skip Walker; and his sister in laws, Claudia Reed, and Cindy Reed.

Tony’s services will be directed by Miguez Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.   A rosary will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. when we will prepare to leave for the Church.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating. Tony’s inurnment will be held at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran Cemetery in Jennings on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
