Lake Arthur Funeral services for Rita Yvonne Mahaffey Mack, 88 of Lake Arthur, LA, will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on New Orleans Ave, Lake Arthur. Officiating will be Rev. LaMarylis Cotton, pastor of the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday until the time of service. Rita Mack was born on August 2, 1924 to Mary Gatlin and Jessie Mahaffey in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She graduated from Jennings High School in 1946. She married Wybra Thomas Mack, Jr. on December 17, 1950. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Arthur, Eastern Star and UMW. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Wybra Thomas Mack, Jr.; parents, Mary and Jessie Mahaffey and sister, Jessie May Wilhite. Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her son, Richard Thomas Mack (wife Kathy) of Lake Arthur and her daughter, Linda May Mack of Edmonds, Washington. Also she leaves behind her special grandpets: Rusty, Blue, Dewey, Scarface, Tiger and Baby Girl. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Lake Arthur First United Methodist Church at the familys request. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Patrick Griffith, nurses and staff of second floor Jennings American Legion Hospital and the staff and administration of the Gueydan Memorial Guest House.
