Richard Lafleur

June 12, 1920 — February 6, 2015

Jennings Mr. Richard LaFleur of Lake Arthur, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, February 6, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born June 22, 1920 in Washington, LA. Funeral services for Mr. LaFleur will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Jennings Church of Christ at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. J. C. Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Andrus Cove Cemetery with full Military Honors under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation hours on Sunday, February 8, 2015 will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Monday visitation will be from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service. Mr. LaFleur served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Hellcat 12th Armored Division in Germany, Belgium and France. He worked as a self-employed painter for a time after returning from the service. He then worked and later retired from SBA Shipyard. He was a Deacon of the Church of Christ for many years where he also served as a minister of music. He lived his faith, loved his family and made many friends along his walks of life and will be sadly missed by all. Survivors include his three daughters; Judy and husband Jimmy Benoit of Lake Arthur, Shelly and husband Doug Bozeman of Baton Rouge and Charlotte “Pete” Gott of New Iberia, his son; Bentley and wife Mary Theunissen LaFleur of Lafayette and a sister, Mary Lou Giger of War Eagle, Arkansas. He had twelve grandchildren, Dale, Cason and Jody Gott, Jamie, Darren and Julie Benoit, Lauren Ray Junot, Alex Ray, Morgan Ray Vondenstein, Aimee, Kadie and Lindey LaFleur; nine great-grandchildren; John, Andy, Will, Evan, Spencer, Keaton and Kyle Gott , Janna Benoit and Henri Guillaumin and four great- great -grandchildren, Nori Benoit, Noah and Ramsey Picard and Abigail Gott. Mr. LaFleur was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Aimee LaFleur, his wife, Nora LeGros LaFleur, three brothers; Joseph “Son”, Emmett and Clifford LaFleur and a son-in-law, Rev. Harlan Gott. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dayle, Cason and Jody Gott, Alex Ray and Darren Benoit and his great-grandson, Andy Gott
