JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Richard James DuPont, 55, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Paul Estes officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. Wednesday until time of services Thursday. A Cursillo Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Dupont died at 5:05 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Christus St. Patrick Hospital, Lake Charles. Mr. DuPont was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a graduate of the Jennings High School class of 1973. He served as the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner from March 2000 until present, having been re-elected for a 3rd term. Mr. DuPont was a member of the Jennings Lions Club from May 2001 to present; Jeff Davis Council on Aging Advisory Board President and served on the board from 2005 until 2008, he was a member of the Jennings Business Alliance from May 2000 until present. Mr. DuPont was an active member of LOPA. He donated his corneas that gave sight to two people and enhanced many lives through organ donations. Survivors include his wife, Julie Trahan DuPont of Jennings; one son, JJ DuPont and wife Crystal of Jennings; one grandson, Gavin DuPont of Jennings; one sister, Brenda Reed and husband Paul of Kaplan; four brothers, Wallace Butch DuPont and wife Geraldine of Crowley, Eugene DuPont and wife Christine of Evangeline, Craig DuPont and wife Charmaine of Evangeline, Terry DuPont and wife Jeanette of Evangeline. Preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Doc and Laura Doucet DuPont; two sisters, Betty DuPont and Sandra Pete; and one brother, Wallace Bubba DuPont. Pallbearers will be Craig DuPont, Terry DuPont, Chris Reed, Mickey Freyou, Don Trahan and Donald Kratzer. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene DuPont, Wallace Butch DuPont, Danny Pop Nanny and Steve Doucet.
