Rena Fontenot

Funeral services for Mrs. Rena Fontenot, 92, of Mermentau will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, with Bro. Darryl Hieronymous and Scott Sensat officiating. Burial will follow in Doucet Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5  and will close at 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until the 11:00 a.m. service time.

Mrs. Fontenot was born on July 28, 1931, in Jennings to Jim and Anna Andrepont LeDoux. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her days were filled with the hard but rewarding work taking care of her family, and she enjoyed doing that. She will be remembered for the contagious laugh that could often be heard throughout her day. She also loved her cats dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Cheryl (Anthony) Fontenot Landry; a son, Joseph (Bertha) H. Janise, Jr.; five grandchildren, Shannon (Aaron) Olivier, Carl (Michelle) Janise, Lacey Landry, Heather Landry, and A.J. Landry; two great grandchildren, one step great grandchild; and one great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Fontenot and two brothers, Allen and Alvin “Noon” LeDoux.

Pallbearers will be Allen LeDoux, Jr, Calvin LeDoux, A.J. Landry, Carl Janise, Ashby Pettigrew and Cheyenne Miller.
