Remy Sonnier

JENNINGS A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Remy Sonnier, 86, will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Mr. Sonnier died at 2:40 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. His body was cremated. Mr. Sonnier was a native of Mowata, and a Jennings resident 63 years, graduated from the Gueydan High School. He and his wife were owners of Cajun Lumber Corporation. He was a member of the VFW, the Jennings American Legion and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include two daughters; Jackie Bougard and husband Mike of Jennings, Janine Hollier and husband, Doug of Jennings; three sons, Henry Sonnier and wife Cynthia, of Lake Charles, Billy Sonnier and wife Debbie, of Seabrook, TX, Robert Sonnier of Baton Rouge; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Lilly Mae Oblanc of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Marie Sonnier. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Lake Immaculate School or Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church.
