Reese R. Broussard

Lake Arthur Funeral services for Mr. Reese Richard Broussard, 92 will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday visitation will be from 8:00 am until the time of service. Mr. Broussard died Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 4:39 p.m. at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Broussard was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, a graduate of Lake Arthur High School and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in which he received Father of the year for 2009. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Broussard loved to read and work crossword puzzles. He was a wonderful cook who made terrific preserves and jellies. He will be remembered for his large gardens and for sharing his vegetables with family. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of marriage and family values. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Dubois of Lake Arthur, Geneva (Kenneth) Sonnier of Lake Arthur and Angie Broussard of Lafayette, a son, Benny (Cindy) Broussard of Crowley, a sister, Marion B. Simar of Lake Arthur, two brothers, Albert Broussard of Lake Arthur and Eldridge Broussard of Houston,Tx., 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Laura Champagne Broussard, a daughter, Sheila Hayes, a son; Ronald Broussard, a great grandson; Ryan Guillory and a Special Friend, Snookie Jackson.
