Funeral services for Mr. Rayford Paul Fontenot, 62, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Pastor Clifton LeJeune officiating.
Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Funeral home visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Fontenot passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019.
He was a 41-year resident of Jennings moving here from Kinder. He was a volunteer fire and rescue for the Kinder/Jennings fire departments where he was also part of the dive and rescue team. He was an EMT and progressed to a paramedic for Acadian Ambulance for many years. He then went back to school graduating from McNeese with a bachelor’s in nursing. He was an ER and ICU nurse in several local hospitals. In later years he worked as a car finance manager where he retired. When he was younger, he served as an Altar Server for Father Robichaud until he left Kinder to go to attend College. He loved animals, the Saints, LSU and classic rock, especially listening to the Eagles and the Doobie Brothers. He loved having family gatherings and cooking and he loved his Corvette.
Survivors include his wife Melanie Sexton Fontenot of Jennings; one daughter, Danielle (Rob) Broussard of Lafayette; two sons, Scott (Amanda) Fontenot of Carlyss, Michael (Katie Fuselier) Fontenot of Lake Arthur; three sisters, Gloria (Bob) Rougeau of Kinder, Brenda (Chris) Mouser of Kinder and Beverly (Charlie) Gauthreaux of Rome, GA four grandchildren, Gabrielle Merritt, Logan Fontenot, Alistair Broussard and Dylan Fontenot.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eston “PeeWee” and Mary Eloise Richard Fontenot.
