Mrs. Black was the eighth of eleven children born to Henry and Alamonde Parsley. After graduating from Iota High School in 1957, she attended beauty school. Mrs. Black worked as a beautician for many years. She was a former Opelousas Yambilee Queen for festival year 1961. Mrs. Black took great pride in her appearance always having her hair fixed and makeup and nails done. Her niece Christine refers to her as a World Class Cook. She not only loved to cook, but her expertise in the kitchen won her many cooking contests. She enjoyed playing video poker. She also loved to visit and talk. Mrs. Black followed her husband Donald as he worked all over the world in the oil field for thirty years.

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alamonde Hebert Parsley.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband Donald Black of Lafayette; a daughter, Sheree (Keith) Black Boardman of New Iberia; and a brother Kelly Parsley of Evangeline.
