JENNINGS It is with heavy hearts that the daughters of Paul O. Miller announce his passing. He passed away at home at 11:45 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was 86. He was born on January 25, 1927 to Oscar and Adelaide Miller. He married the love of his life, Lillian, in 1945. They were married 59 years prior to her passing. Together they had three daughters. He worked different jobs early on, but eventually earned his certification as an electrician and went to work for Sonnier Electric in Lake Charles in 1951. Soon after he began his electrical career he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly from 1951-1954. Upon his return from service he continued working for Sonnier Electric until his retirement in 1988. He was also a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 861 in Lake Charles from 1951 until the time of his death. He enjoyed building and fixing things, reading, gardening, but most of all spending time with his family. Above all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was always there for his family and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his three daughters, Johnnie M. Dennis of Jennings and husband Tommy, Janita M. DeCourt of New Iberia and husband Freddie and Jana M. Ashworth and husband Joel of Carlyss. His four grandchildren, Jared Dennis of Roanoke, Holly Dennis of Jennings, Natalie DeCourt of New Iberia and Claire Ashworth of Carlyss and one great grandchild Hayden Dennis of Roanoke and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian C. Miller, mother-in-law Meliza Crochet, brothers, Adam Miller, Felix Miller and sisters, Marie Ida Landry, Eve Johnson and Lena Gotte. His services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 at Miguez Funeral Home with Pastor Garland Reed of Miller French Baptist Church officiating. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Tommy Dennis, Freddie DeCourt and Joel Ashworth. Grandson Jared Dennis, nephew Tony Gotte and cousin Mike Mire. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heart of Hospice, 750 Bayou Pines East Ste. A., Lake Charles, LA 70601. The family would like to thank everyone at Heart of Hospice for their care, support and compassion.
