Funeral services for Patricia Reaud Theunissen, 88, of Jennings will be held Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Theunissen died Friday, February 16, 2018 at her home in Jennings, Louisiana after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Pat Pat, as her grandchildren fondly called her, was born June 6, 1929 to Ruby Marshall and Jules Reaud. She lived in Jennings until 1956 when she married Gerald “Jerry” Theunissen, an Air Force officer. They were stationed at Air Force bases in numerous states and traveled extensively throughout the United States while raising a young family. Pat Pat instilled a love of travel and adventure in her children who have priceless memories of weekend sightseeing trips and family vacations.

Upon Jerry’s retirement from the military in 1975, the family moved back to Jennings. Between 1992 and 2008, she and Jerry resided part-time in Baton Rouge where Jerry served in the Louisiana legislature. Pat Pat, greatly admired around the State Capital, was elected president of the spouse’s Legislative Auxiliary Association. In Jennings she was a member of the Entre Nous luncheon group, Thursday Coffee Club, and Ladies Altar Society.

Pat Pat devoted much time and energy to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and especially loved reading to her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her clever wit, calm and gracious demeanor, and selfless commitment to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerald “Jerry” Theunissen; their three children, Terry Theunissen Persac and husband David of Baton Rouge, Julie Theunissen McDonald of Dallas, TX, and Gerald “Jay” Theunissen, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Jennings; five grandchildren, Taylor Persac Gulotta and husband John of New Orleans, Hunter Martin and wife Dana of Oxnard, CA, Whitney Persac Thomson and husband John of Lafayette, Matthew Leger and Magan of Lafayette, and Hayley Martin Mize and husband Colin of Houston, TX; and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Cullen and Scarlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jackie Reaud Theunissen.

Carrying her to her final resting place will be pallbearers, Peter Theunissen, Randy Theunissen, Kendall Theunissen, Stephen Theunissen, Matt Leger, Bernan “Bub” Theunissen, Jr. and Hunter Martin.
