Patricia Pat Brummett

Patricia Nelson Brummett, 87, of Jennings, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2023. Services for Mrs. Brummett will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. John Clark and Rev. Seth Donald officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.

Pat was born in Jennings, LA to Raymond Nelson and Lena Pitre Nelson on May 29, 1936.  She grew up in Sulphur, LA and on April 16, 1955, married the love of her life, Paul Brummett. At the time of his death in 2003, they had been married 48 years and today it would be 68 years.

Pat was active in her church and community, until health issues 7 years ago necessitated a much slower pace in life.  She still enjoyed “rides around town” and visiting her children’s homes for get-togethers and celebrations.

Decorating for and celebrating all holidays, especially Christmas, brought much excitement and joy to Pat.  She was extremely pleased and satisfied that her children and grandchildren would be carrying on these celebrations and decorating for these with many of her own treasures.  She also enjoyed keeping up with all activities and life events and especially “pictures on my phone”.

Paul and Pat raised four children in Jennings who survive her, Julie (Mike) Donnelly, Mary Beth Brummett, Sarah Kate Brummett, and Paul II (Lori) Brummett; four grandchildren, Ryan (Christina) Donnelly, Kevin (Sarah) Donnelly, Clay Brummett and Sydney Brummett; four great-grandchildren, Steven, Emma, Maggie, and Meara Donnelly; three siblings, Raymond Jr (Bubba) Nelson, Edward Nelson, and Susan (Allan) Grimm; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and wonderful friends from every stage of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; and her nephew Russ Keene.

Pat’s family appreciates the kind and loving care she received at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home; doctors and staff at Oschner American Legion Hospital; Father John (Phyllis) Clark and Church members; and all others who contributed to her joy and contentment.
