Ouida was born in Creole, LA on October 10, 1946, to John Whitney Theriot and his wife, Wilmer Mary Bonsall Theriot. She spent most of her life on Chenier Perdue where she grew up. She graduated from high school and went to work for the Cameron Parish School Board as a bus driver, following in the footsteps of her dad Whitney and her beloved brother Winston.

In 1965 Ouida married Patrick Paul Boudreaux. They had four children, Blaine, Denise, Edna and Kiristie and lived on Chenier Perdue carrying on a family tradition of raising cattle and horses. That tradition continues to this day with her grandchildren showing cattle throughout the region. After Patrick's death, Ouida was heartbroken. She worked through the loss of her husband and showed her children what it meant to lose someone that meant so much to them and yet pick up the pieces and carry on.

She found a new happiness in 2012 when she married Rogerest Romero and moved with him to Johnson Bayou. They enjoyed 12 wonderful years together and were happily married until her death.

Ouida was hard...she worked hard, played hard, and she loved hard. While that may sound harsh, it simply means that she was serious about what she did, how she felt and what she taught her family. She was loving, kind and gentle when she needed to be and always ready to help others. She was a loyal friend and devoted to her faith, praying her rosary every day; but the legacy she leaves to her family is that life is what you make of it. She wanted them to learn the lessons of working hard for what you want and appreciating the blessings you received as a result. She wanted them to realize that though the death of a loved one can deal you a tough blow, its important to reflect on the life lived and the love that is left behind. She met the challenge and moved forward. She wanted them to excel in whatever they chose to do and to pass all these qualities along to the children they brought into the world.

"Ol Momma" was the name she preferred because let's face it, she loved her kids and her grandkids, but those great grandkids were her favorite. When she wasn't playing the role of "Ol Momma" she also enjoyed dancing and listening to French music. The everyday phone calls and face times are what will be missed the most. A crab didn't stand a chance when she was around, and it didn't matter how you cooked it, she was ready to enjoy it. Before her illness took its toll on her, she could be found most often at a cow show or traveling to a ranch rodeo to support her girls. She cherished family time and made sure everyone had their own job to do for the occasion. Above all, her absolute favorite thing to do was engage in a good argument and you could bet on her winning. She absolutely loved Chenier Perdue where her roots were. She was always smiling, in a "Ouida" kind of way and she loved to laugh.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rogerest Romero; children, Blaine (Dana) Boudreaux, Denise (Bradley) Fontenot, Edna (Shannon) Styron, Kiristie (Eric) Bertrand and; Kaysha (Chris) Guidry, a special granddaughter; five step-children, Desiree (Joe) Romero, Scott Romero, Calise (Fran) Romero, Ruth Ann (Dwayne) Nall and Adam James Romero; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister Vergie Nunez; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick Paul Boudreaux; her parents, Whitney and Wilma Theriot; beloved brother and his wife, James Winston and Mary Montie Theriot; beloved brother-in-law, Curtis Nunez; beloved godparents, Tassie and Avery Nunez and grandson, Joseph Paul Boudreaux.
