JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Odra Joseph “Sam” Crochet, 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. William Miller officiating. Burial with full military graveside honors will be in the Raymond Community Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Crochet died at 11:09 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Crochet was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired farmer who loved cutting grass. He loved riding around looking at the crops in the fields and turtles. Mr. Crochet was the last of eleven children. Mr. Crochet is survived by three daughters, Janette Young and husband Wayne of Jennings, Peggy Daigle and husband Alvin of Hathaway, Polly Strickland of Jennings; one son, Ricky Crochet and wife Kayla of Hathaway; and special companion Joan Kennedy; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pearly Crochet and his parents, Sylvester and Eva Gary Crochet. Pallbearers will be Marvin Joseph Crochet, Jr., John Hall, Kevin Hardy, Gerald Gary, Tony Comeaux,David Augustine and Cody LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth “Putt” Young, Jr. and Gabe Crochet.
