Nolan Thibodeaux

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. Nolan Thibodeaux, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Honors will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Thibodeaux died at 6:05 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. Mr. Thibodeaux was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and was also a lay minister. He enjoyed going to church, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3012. He retired from Superior/Mobile after 36 years of service and then worked at Stine’s for 22 years. He enjoyed family time and had fond memories of his grandmother, Emily Broussard, who raised him. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carrie M. Boudreaux Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur; two sons, Allen “Wally” Thibodeaux and his wife Pam of Gueydan, Joey Thibodeaux and his wife Shonda of Lake Arthur; two sisters, Agnes Gary and Shirley Thibodeaux both of Lake Arthur; two brothers, Jerry Sonnier of Cypress Point and Alcide Hargrave of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren, Coty Thibodeux and wife Charity, Shaylee Thibodeaux, Peyton Thibodeaux and Abbie Thibodeux and two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kate Thibodeux. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clementine Broussard and his step-father, Rene Sonnier and one brother, Edward Sonnier.
