Funeral services for Mr. Myrle James Bertrand, 88, of Jennings, will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mr. Bertrand will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, with a rosary to be held at 12 noon and the service at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Bertrand was born in Abbeville to Merruce and Blanche Dugas Bertrand on November 14, 1936. He graduated from high school and went on to spend his life as a farmer. He was a workaholic, always concerned about his family and whether they had enough to eat. His words were as good as gold. Mr. Bertrand was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a great great grandfather as well as a good provider for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Manuel Bertrand; daughter Peggy Vincent; sons, Bert (Debbie) Bertrand and Dave "Joe" (Rhonda) Bertrand; sister, Annie Lee Bertrand and brother, Preston Bertrand; five grandchildren: Monica (Arnold) Willis, Misty Bertrand Hearod, Chad (Chasidy) Bertrand, Lacey (Brandon) Frey, Jessica (Scotty)Gotte; great grandchildren, Candace, Hailey and Boyd Willis, Daityn and Haiden Hearod, Kason Bertrand, Jhadyn and Luke Gotte; and great great-grandchildren, Aleia Syron, Camryn Willis and Charli Cormier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Archie Vincent and grand son-in-law, Brandon Hearod.

Carrying Mr. Bertrand to his place of rest will be Chad Bertrand, Brandon Frey, Scotty Gotte, Jeremy Bertrand, Arnold Willis, Boyd Willis, Haiden Hearod. Honorary pallbearers will be Kason Bertrand, Dwayne Royer and Luke Gotte.
