Mildred “Midge”, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her residence in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones.

Midge was born on September 24, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a young woman, she moved to New Orleans, with her sisters, where she met George Herman, Jr., husband of 70 years. They moved to Metairie, Louisiana and raised a family of three children, Terry, Darlene and Gary.

Her lifetime achievements include seamstress worthy sewing, team bowling, cooking her signature delicious Creole gumbo and her own delicious recipes. She loved Mardi Gras and served as an officer in the Krewe of Diana Mardi Gras organization for decades, and lived her dream in 1999, serving as the reigning Queen. She loved entertaining family and friends during the Mardi Gras season. She loved playing computer games and casino trips. Last but not least, Midge adored the family dog, “Charlie”, whom was a comfort by her side everyday.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, George Louis Herman, Jr. (USMC Veteran), Daughters, Theresa Dubea and husband Rick, Darlene Babin and husband Wayne, Son, Gary Herman and wife Terri, Grand Children, Christine Curtis and husband Rob, Daryl Babin and wife Jenney, Dustin Babin, Zachary Herman and wife Galyn, Samatha Chappetta and Noah Benoit, Great Grand Children, Quinn Curtis, Aria Curtis, Ronan Babin, Ethan Babin, Lena Benoit, Cousin, Doris Morris, and Nieces and Nephews, and Life Long Friends, Maria and Arthur Allen.

She is proceeded in death by her beloved mother and father, Helen Potter Haase and James Haase, Sisters, Martha Bianculli (Vic), Virginia Ingram (Doug), Ruth Rodriguez (Leo), Brothers, Kenneth Haase and Arnold Haase.

The family wishes extended gratitude to Allison Bergeron, Anastasia Coleman, Shelton Clay, and Maria Menard with Heart of Hospice.

Celebrate Midge’s life “Now and Always”

Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home. Inurnment and service will be at The Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS and will occur at a later date.
