Lake Arthur
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Mazie Miller Marceaux, 88, of Lake Arthur will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin on Friday, October 15, 2021, in the church at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time with a rosary being recited at 2:30 p.m.
Marie Mazie Miller Marceaux was born on April 16, 1933 and passed away on October 12, 2021. She was known as Mazie to her friends and family. She was a lifetime resident of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, and a graduate of Lake Arthur High School. Later in life she returned to school and obtained her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. On May 6, 1952, she married John Clifford Marceaux. She was active in the Catholic church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. In addition, she was a long-term teacher of catechism. She was always kind and loving to all who entered her life, including friends and strangers alike.
She is survived by her husband, John Marceaux; seven children, John Philip Marceaux (Janet) of Lake Arthur, Stephen Gerard Marceaux (Marietta) of Jennings, Mary Ann M. Henry (Mike) of Morse, Karen Marceaux of Lake Arthur, Michael Marceaux (Lillette) of Lake Charles, Veronica Marie Plummer (Richard) of Baton Rouge, and Gregory Paul Marceaux (Nina) of Lake Charles; seventeen grandchildren, Alex Marceaux, Collin Marceaux, Sarah Rizzuto, Joshua Marceaux, Jenny Vick, Jacob Thibodeaux, Tommy Thibodeaux, Mikey Thibodeaux, Mark Leger, Matt Leger, Spencer Marceaux, Brian landry, Michelle Landry, Holden Marceaux, John Paul Marceaux, Quinn Marceaux, Mazie Marceaux; twenty-four great grandchildren and two great great -grandchildren.
Mazie was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Chris Boudreaux, Marshall Leger and Celeste Landry.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Mazie’s caregivers, Nikie Bertrand, Jenny Rose Benoit and Delores Broussard, who showed her kindness and compassion in her final years of life.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur.
