Mayola Cain Monvoisin

Memorial graveside services for Ms. Mayola Cain Monvoisin, 79, of Jennings, will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Gueydan. Steven Cobb will be praying with the family at the graveside. She will be buried with her late husband, James H. Monvoisin.

Ms. Monvoisin passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Oschner American Legion Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1943, in Klondike to Mayo and Gladys Vincent Cain.  She graduated from Gueydan High School in 1962 and worked in retail sales.  She loved growing up in the Klondike community, then after marrying Jimmy Monvoisin, she moved to Gueydan. She moved to Jennings around 2007, where she has lived ever since.

Ms. Monvoisin loved shopping, so retail sales were a natural for her.  She also enjoyed visiting the casino in her spare time. She was affectionately called “Queen Bee” by her children who she enjoyed spending time with and of course nothing could compare to those precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Some of her best and favorite adventures were spent with her friend, Pat Bonin.

Those left to cherish wonderful memories of Ms. Monvoisin include two daughters, Melanie (Bradley) Arthur and Michelle (Kulian) Spell, all of Jennings; her son, James (Kara) Monvoisin, also of Jennings; six grandchildren, Bradley, Clinton, Katelynn, Freddy, Trevor And Reese; ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and of course, her special friend Pat Bonin.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Judy Cain; brothers, Warren, Curtis, and Norman Cain and a grandchild, Kelian.

Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
