WELSH Graveside services for Mrs. Maxine Andrews Stanley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013, in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Brother Stephen Laughlin, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Winnfield will officiate. Mrs. Stanley, at 94 ½, a Gold Star Wife, passed away on March 18, 2013 en route to Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield, Louisiana. Mrs. Stanley was born on July 16, 1918, at Harrisonburg, Louisiana. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts on May 31, 1941, from the Louisiana State Normal School, Natchitoches, Louisiana; and retired after thirty years later from Caldwell and Acadia Parish Schools. At the time of her death, Mrs. Stanley was a resident of Winnfield, Louisiana, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, Louisiana, where Brother Stephen Laughlin is Pastor. She is survived by one sister, Helen Andrews Evans and husband, Dr. Jack B. Evans, of Winnfield, Louisiana; one niece, Ann Evans Horton and husband Dr. Robert Horton of Sugar Land, Texas; one grandniece, Dr. Amy Celeste Horton Thornton and husband Mr. Adam Thornton, of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandnephew, Michael Andrew Horton and wife Josephini Beck Horton of Issaquah, Washington; one great grandnephew, Jack Elliot Horton of Issaquah, Washington; one step-daughter, Linda May Stanley of Lexington, Virginia; two step-grandsons, Adam Paton Stanley-Smith of Paris, France, and Andrew Kirkpatrick Stanley-Smith of Lexington, Virginia; one step-granddaughter, Annika Augusta Marie Stanley-Smith of Lexington, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews of Ray Greene. Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mittie Belle Graves Andrews, of Marion, Louisiana; by two husbands, Ray Greene of Columbia, Louisiana, and Ralph Lett Stanley of Jennings, Louisiana; by sisters, Marie Andrews Guinn and husband, Mr. Earnest Guinn, of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, and Marguerite Ann Andrews Robinson and husband, Mr. Donald Robinson of Roanoke, Louisiana. Special thanks are due to Teka Sanders, Caroline Hayes, Charles Peewee Austin, Barbara Austin, Sarah Jane Wright, Earline L. Deshotel, Dwight and Wadean Callender, and Hazel Melton.
