LAKE ARTHUR Margaret Mack Hahn of Lake Arthur passed away at Regional Hospital of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA on Friday, February 11, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. LaMarylis Cotten at First United Methodist Church of Lake Arthur on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service on Wednesday. Funeral arrangements are by Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings, LA. Born May 20, 1918, she was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and was married to Jon M. Hahn from June 14, 1944 until his death in December 1978. She is preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Mary Mack of Lake Arthur, and five siblings, Wybra Mack, Gordon Mack, Anna May Mack Vincent, Nona Mack Doland, and J.C. Mack, Jr. She is survived by three children, Dana Hahn Schmersahl of Lafayette, LA, Michael Hahn of New Orleans, LA, Dale Hahn of San Antonio, TX, five grandchildren, Jason Hahn of San Antonio, Kaetchen Schmersahl of Lafayette, Kursten Schmersahl Benites of Austin, TX, Becky Hahn of New York, NY, Rachel Hahn of New Orleans, three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, and Jasmine Hahn, and three nieces, and numerous great-nephews and nieces. She was a teacher and a lifelong learner. A graduate of Lake Arthur High, she received college degrees in Home Economics and Education from SLI in Lafayette (now ULL). After retirement, she completed a degree in Art at McNeese State University. She loved creative activities. She studied and taught piano. She painted and drew pictures of the scenic beauty in and around Lake Arthur for friends and family. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Arthur and a member and past Worthy Matron of the Lake Arthur Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in various religious, civic, and community organizations. Generous with her time and talents, she loved the company of friends of all ages. Throughout her life she was young at heart and took joy in spending time with family and friends. For the past two years she lived with her daughter Dana in Lafayette and made a new circle of friends attending social and school events and antique auctions.
