Mary Lee (Guidry) Clinch, 98, a life-long resident of Mermentau passed away on August 23, 2020 at 1:35 p.m. at home. Mary was the daughter of Hilaire “Eli” and Bertile (Moore) Guidry. She was the surviving sibling of ten brothers and sisters all of whom preceded her in death.
Mary was married to Norman Joseph Clinch from Berlin, New Hampshire and mother of Norman James who preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of sons Richard of Alaska, Charles and Lee of Mermentau, and daughter Nancy of Illinois. She was the grandmother of eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was a life-long parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau. She worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War ll in Fort Worth, Texas. She loved being a home maker and town librarian. She enjoyed playing “Minnie Pearl” in the elementary parent talent night. In her later years she worked as a home health aide. She was known for her loving smile, kindness and generous heart.
Friends and family are invited to her visitation and funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a Rosary being recited at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Mermentau Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
