Mark Menard

July 23, 1963 — February 18, 2025

Mark Menard, age 61, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, in Lafayette.

Born to Wilfred and Lois Menard on July 23, 1963, Mark enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He was a true friend to many and had a heart of gold. The 1981 graduate of Jennings High School was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed golf and LSU sports.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at 8:00 a.m., with services at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with Father Charles McMillan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Left to cherish his memory are his life partner of 25 years, Giny Smith; his mother, Lois Menard; two brothers, Randal (Pam) Menard, Jeff (Audra) Menard; one sister, Paula Bonin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Although Mark had no children of his own, he loved and cherished Giny’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as his own, including children Gigi (Johnny) Freeman and Jason (Melissa) Procell; grandchildren Joshua, Sierra, Chayse, Rexli and Jaxli Procell, Aiden Phillips, Tucker Link, Cameron Tamplain, Jordan (Cami) Freeman, Peyton Freeman; and great grandchildren Ellis Tamplain, Raleigh and Jackson Freeman. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Menard; grandparents Eula Mae and Curley Courts and Hilda Theriot and Milton Menard; nephew Aaron Richard and Giny’s son, Joshua Maxey.

Pallbearers will be Randal Menard, Jeff Menard, Jason Procell, Johnny Freeman, Josh Procell, Aiden Phillips, Chase Procell, Tucker Link and Duane Meaux.

Honorary pallbearers Damon Gregory, Ben Bonin, Zachary Bonin, James Dupré, Skylar Miller, Daniel Soileau, Leon Bordelon, Scott Cormier and Greg Verret. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Ochsner Cancer Center of Lafayette, especially Dr. Steven Saccaro, N.P. Tracy, Dr. Michael Horaist and N.P. Emily; Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center staff, especially 9 Central; and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana Calcutta House.
