Mrs. Williams died at 5:30 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mrs. Williams was born September 15, 1923 in Los Angeles, California but came home to Jennings with her family when she was 12 years old. She graduated from Jennings High School and attended S.L.I. (now UL-L). She worked at the Jennings City Hall until she married Daly Williams on December 16, 1945. After living briefly in North Carolina, they returned to Jennings where they raised their five children and were an integral part of the community and their church home. While Marjorie was a great contributor to her community and her many friends, it was her family and her church which received most of her gifts throughout her almost 87 years of life. Cher , as Daly called her, was the perfect wife and mother. She and Daly complimented each other in every aspect of their 58 years together. She taught her five children through what she said but mostly by her actions. She helped teach her children about humanity, responsibility, faith and love. Humanity-she insisted that all of Gods children be treated with equal respect. Responsibility-to her family, her neighbors and the larger community. Faith-she was the first female to serve as moderator of the Louisiana Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church. Love-Marjorie and Daly loved each other in a strong and pure way that was clear to all of the children and grandchildren. Marjorie often said make sure you leave the world a better place. She did. Mrs. Williams was a member the First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and member of the Presbyterian Church Women of the church, member of the Revelers and Entre Nous. She is survived by two daughters, Lois Ann W. Kidd of Houston, TX and Virginia Davis of Baton Rouge; three sons, Alan Daly Williams and wife, Debbie of Baton Rouge, Barry Ward Williams and wife, Brenda of Springfield, Mo and Charles L. Williams and wife Dana of Jennings; one sister, Elgie D. Thornton of Kerrville, TX; her grandchildren, Kimberly W. Liles and husband Charles, Matt Williams and wife Alanna, Brian Williams, Stephen Williams and wife Shelby, Peter Williams, Ian Williams, Lydia Willians and Elisabeth Davis; five great-grandchildren, Sydney Grace Liles, Charles Edward Liles, Daly Annlee Williams, Laurel Grace Williams and Reid Matthew Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daly Williams; her parents, Ward A. and Mae Holmes Davis; one sister, Dorothy D. Rozas; one brother, Herbert L. Davis; one son-in-law, Harry F. Davis, M.D.; and one great-grandchild, Avery Annlee Williams. Charitable contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, P. O.
