Marie Mae Sonnier

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Mae Dupre Sonnier, 85, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Funeral home visitation will be 10:30 a.m., Friday until time of services Saturday at the Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Sonnier died at 8:47 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2009 in the Crowley American Legion Hospital. Mrs. Sonnier was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and was a homemaker. She was a gentle and unselfish woman. Throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing with her husband, Nuffy, cooking, and baby sitting her grandchildren. Mrs. Sonnier was a 1941 graduate of Jennings High School. Mrs. Sonnier was the best wife and mother that anyone could ask for. She was everyones Mama and Maw-Maw. Mrs. Sonnier is survived by two daughters, Lucinda Campbell and husband Richard of Jennings, Karen Arledge and husband Benjy of Crowley; three sons, Ronald Sonnier and wife Jennifer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Kenneth Sonnier and wife Geneva of Lake Arthur, Kevin Sonnier and wife Paula of Lake Arthur; one sister, Gladys Mauboules and husband Preston of Morse, one brother, Charles Dupre and wife Sylvia of Benton, TN; eleven grandchildren, Claire Przybyszewski of Lexington, SC, Crystal Conlee of Crestview, FL, Byron Sonnier of Birmingham, AL, Natalie Manuel of Lake Arthur, Brent Sonnier of Lake Charles, Allen, Kamie, Abigail and Ben Arledge all of Crowley, Erienne Sonnier of Chicago, IL, and Joshua Sonnier of Lake Arthur; six great grandchildren, Katie, Caleb and Reese Manuel all of Lake Arthur, Riley Przybyszedwski of Lexington, SC, Aniston Conlee of Crestview, FL and Kaizlee Arledge of Crowley; special caregivers, Liz Easterling, Linda Sherman, Brenda Broussard, Belinda Myers, Vicki Roach, Maggie Conner and extra special caregiver, daughter-in-law Paula Sonnier. Pallbearers will be Byron Sonnier, Allen Arledge, Brent Sonnier, Joshua Sonnier, Ben Arledge and Kyle Ryder. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert (Bubba) Ryder, John Sonnier and Nadine Cresswell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Nuffy Sonnier; her parents, Lucy C. and Jules Dupre; and her brother, Sidney Dupre.
