The family of Mrs. Maria Sonnier, 80, of Jennings, LA, announces her passing on November 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday November 9, 2023, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Father Bill Miller officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. with the service to immediately follow. Burial is to follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Maria was born in Iota, LA, on March 5, 1943, to Ivy Deshotel and Josephine Vasseur Deshotel. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. She took pride in her seamstress work, which she loved to do. 

Left to cherish her memories are her significant other, Russell Sonnier; daughter, Dana (Kevin) Lopez of Hathaway; son, Dwayne (Dana) Sonnier of Iowa; sisters, Janice Ashford of Basile and Ethel (Robert) Bergeaux of Evangeline; brother Hubert Deshotel of Kinder; and her grandchildren, Zack (Saige) Lopez, Tyler (Tori) Lopez, Koyden Lopez, Christopher Sonnier, Dalton Sonnier, Samantha Sonnier and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, L. J. Sonnier; sister, Wilma Deshotel; and brothers, Albert and Allen Deshotel.
