JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Margueritte Mugs Herring, 93, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Freeland officiating Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m., today, Wednesday until 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 am Thursday until the time of services. Mrs. Herring died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 in the Golden Age Nursing Home of Welsh. Mrs. Herring was a native of Roanoke and graduate of Roanoke High School Class of 1930. She attended Port Arthur Business College. Mrs. Herring lived in Jennings for 35 years moving here from Metairie, La. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church, Jennings Eastern Star #9 Order of the Eastern Star, a Pink Lady at the Jennings American Legion Hospital, an avid golfer, a member of the Jennings United Methodist Lunch Bunch and a greeter at the Jennings United Methodist Church. Mrs. Herring is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas James and Verna Elsie Longman Thomas; her husband, Clyde Herring; two sisters, Iola Sarah Thomas McMillan and Verna Lee Thomas Broussard and one brother, Dr. James Jim Nelson Thomas.
