Margaret Jane Love

July 16, 1922 — February 25, 2014

JENNINGS Margaret Jane Wright Love Mrs. Love died on February 25, 2014. She was affectionately called Jane by her friends and family. Mrs. Love was born July 16, 1922 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Dugan Douglas Davis and Marvin Alfred Wright. She never met a stranger; brought joy with her wit to all who knew and loved her, and was a gift. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Love graduated from Welsh High School in 1939. She was a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class in the Navy during WWII. She often said she fought the battle of Memphis, Tennessee (which was one the bases where she was stationed). She was also stationed at Fredrick, Maryland, involved in biological warfare, and Washington D.C. where she never forgot the beautiful cherry blossoms on the Potomac. After her service in the Navy, she graduated from SLI (now ULL) with a B.S. degree in business. She was married to George Wayne Love for 38 years. They moved to Crowley, Louisiana in 1955. She was co-owner of Love’s Studio & Gifts in Crowley for over 20 years until the late 1970’s. Mrs. Love was in The Southwest Louisiana War Veteran’s Home at the time of her death. They were very caring, compassionate, and helpful to the family; they took excellent care of her during her short stay. In her earlier years, Mrs. Love enjoyed working outside in her flower bed, going fishing, playing family games like cards and dominoes, and was an avid reader. She attended church regularly. She grew up in The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), was an active member of The Christian Women’s Fellowship, served as an elder, and was on the board of directors. At the time of her death, she was a member of The First Presbyterian Church (which she dearly loved) of Crowley. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Laureate Mu Chapter). Mrs. Love was a former member of The American Legion, and contributed to the National Monument for Women in the Service in WWII. Survivors are her children, Janice Love of Pineville, Louisiana, Helen Love and her husband Richard Hughes of Satellite Beach, Florida, Patricia Love and her husband, Bengt Lindell of Welsh, Louisiana, Charles Love of Prairie Ronde, Louisiana, Georgette Love and her husband John Richard of Crowley, and Jeanette Love Skorbarchek and her husband Jerry Skorbarcek of Crowley; one sister, Birdie Radar in Cape Giraudeau, Missouri, and a sister-in-law, Bernice Mooney who resides Oberlin, Louisiana. She had 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Mrs. Love requested that her body be cremated. A Memorial Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at The First Presbyterian Church in Crowley, followed a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. She will be buried along-side her husband in Reed Cemetery just outside of Oberlin, Louisiana.
