M/Sgt. John W. Coffman, Jr. (Ret.)

JENNINGS Funeral services for M/Sgt. John W. Coffman, Jr., (Ret.) 70, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2009 in the Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh. Funeral home visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Coffman died at 9:00 a.m., Sunday, December 27, 2009 at his residence in Alexandria. Mr. Coffman was a native of Roanoke and a graduate of the Roanoke High School. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 26 years of service. He served in Okinawa Japan and Vietnam. During his military career he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and various other awards and recognitions. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Atkins Coffman of Alexandria; two daughters, Heidi Marie Smith of Alexandria, Cheri-lea McDonald and husband Keith of Arnaudville, and Cindy Coffman of South Carolina; two sons, Shaun Tucker of Stafford, VA and Lt. Col. Dale Coffman and wife Alice of Springfield, VA and four grandchildren, Brandi Ahlstrom, Zacarey Smith, Nikki Ahlstrom and Dale Lucas Coffman.
