Louis Joseph Benoit, Sr.

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Louis Benoit, 76, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation was from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday; and 8:00 a.m. today, Tuesday until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Benoit died at 8:05 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2009 in the Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and a retired tugboat captain. Mr. Benoit was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Survivors include five daughters, Jeanita Cormier and husband Keith of Hathaway, Darlene Nelson and husband Tommy of Jennings, Melissa Cormier and husband Tommy of Jennings, Benita Duplechian and husband Robert of Sulphur, and Georgette Bullock and husband Al of Evangeline; two sons, Carl Benoit and wife Nora of Morse and Arthur Benoit and wife Charlotte of Lake Arthur; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Lucien Benoit, Sr. and Noelie Boudreaux Benoit; his wife, Mary Jane Marceaux Benoit, and one son Harold Louis Benoit. Pallbearers will be Kevin Cormier, Jacob Ryder, Steven Ryder, Travis Benoit, Darlene Nelson and Danielle Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Benoit and Jeff Cormier.
