A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lonnie James Savoie, 71, of Lake Arthur will be held in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mr. Savoie will begin on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. and will continue until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  It will resume on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 9:30 a.m. to leave for church.

Mr. Savoie was born on June 22, 1952, in LaRose, LA to Richard “Bones” Savoie and Audrey Theresa Trosclair.   Mr. Savoie served his country while in the Army during the Vietnam era.  He worked as a production operator in the oil and gas industry.  He was a family man who enjoyed doing things with his sons and grandchildren, including hunting and fishing.  He loved gardening and raising his rabbits.  He was also a diehard LSU fan and loved watching LSU sports. His family was loved and cherished deeply by him.  He was of the Catholic faith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 51 years, Jackie Savoie; three sons, Richard Savoie and Ryan Savoie of Lake Arthur and Dustin (Rachel) Savoie of Adkins, TX; two brothers, Morris (Mary) Savoie and Kenneth Savoie, all of Lake Arthur; grandchildren, Meagan (Spencer) Trahan, Lexi, Ridge, Lyssa, Stiles, and Audrey Savoie; great grandchildren, Jackson Sonnier, Eli Trahan, Henry Trahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson-in-law, Josh Sonnier and sister-in-law, Diana Thibodeaux.
