LAKE ARTHUR

On Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:34 p.m., Lonnie Wayne Broussard, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 65.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 in the First Baptist Church with Bro. Jared Thomas officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 and from 8:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

Lonnie was born November 4, 1954 in Jennings, LA to Clarence and Beverly Weekly Broussard. A lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, he worked in the oilfield for 31 years. 

Lonnie was known for big smile and soft heart.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, maintaining his beautiful yard, and always lending a helping hand when needed. He will be forever remembered for being a avid hunter, and gun collector.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Lee and Beverly Jane Weekly Broussard and stepson Corey Abshire.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cheryl Abshire Broussard, son and daughter-in-law Derick and Mary Broussard of Niceville, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Shawntina and Dwayne Solari of St. Martinville, Crystal Broussard of Lake Arthur, step-daugthers and son-in-laws Destiny and Travis Magee of Brandon, MS, and Dalisha and Allan Mayberry of Colorado Srpings; nine grandchildren, Kyler Broussard, Madelyn Hanks, Noah Solari, Tyler and Cameron Broussard, Cory Magee, Kaylin Magee, Eliana Mayberry and Elyse Mayberry; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Renford and Chandra Broussard of New Iberia and Gayland and Angie Broussard of Lake Arthur and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Carroll Dugas of Lake Charles.

Pallbearers will be Kyler Broussard, Dwayne Solari, Randy (FIG) Stevens, Faron Schexnider, Travis Magee and Allan Mayberry.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Noah Solari and Madelyn Hanks.
