Lloyd H. Lacour

Lake Arthur Lloyd Henry Lacour died at his home January 30, 2013. His body will be at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur from 2:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2013 with a rosary being recited at 7 pm. Visitation will continue Friday from 8 am until the time of service at 2 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Whitney Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Lloyd Lacour was born January 8, 1911, finished Lake Arthur High in 1929 then went to College in Valparaso, IN for one year. He finished college at UL in Lafayette, LA in 1934 and married Mamie Marie Simon of Kaplan, LA in 1936. From 1932 to 1939 he managed his daddys store in Abbeville, LA. In 1939 he bought his daddys store in Lake Arthur, LA. He started the Lacour Lumber Yard in 1947. His son Jules took over Lacour Lumber Yard in 1975 and Lloyd LaCour retired. In the 1970s he helped organize LA Motels Inc. and served on the Board on both LA Motels Inc. and Savings Life Inc. of Shreveport, LA. He also served 23 years on the Board of Directors of Jeff Davis Bank and Trust Co. and resigned in 1991 to retire. Lloyd Lacour was a Charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3012 of Lake Arthur, LA. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; a lifetime member of the Jeff Davis Arts Council and member of the Lions Club. Mr. Lacour enjoyed traveling, reading and being at his farm. He is survived by his children; Jules Mayo Lacour and wife Cathy Broussard of Lafayette, LA and Sherry Lacour Boudreaux and husband Kurt of Lafayette, LA., his grandchildren; Arthur Lacour and wife Denise of Buckinghamshire, U.K., Richard Lacour and wife Sunea of Lafayette, LA and Jules (Jake) Lacour, II and wife Darla of Lafayette, Jacqueline, David, and Daniel Boudreaux and eight great-grandchildren, Colby Lacour, Janssen Lacour, Michael Lacour, Dianne Lacour, Elliott Lacour, William Lacour, Isabelle Lacour and Donovan Boudreaux. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and neighbors. Mr. Lacour was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Simon Lacour, his parents, Alexandre Mayo and Agatha Broussard Lacour, a daughter, Charlotte Lynn Lacour, a son, Roy Henry Lacour, brothers; Roy Hopson Lacour and Nolan Lacour, sisters; Agnes Lacour Riquelmy and Gertrude Lacour Conner. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Jake Lacour, Colby Lacour, Arthur Lacour, Richard Lacour, Michael Lacour, David Boudreaux, Daniel Boudreaux and Jacqueline Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Prince, Rick LeBlanc, Bill Landry and Danny Landry. We, the family would like to recognize our fathers caregivers, Linda Trahan, Roxanne Mallett and Dawn Ortego. They tirelessly provided our father with their superb love, care and protection these past several years.
