Leona Louise Sonnier

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Louise Broussard Sonnier, 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Sonnier died at 7:57 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Jeff Davis Living Center in Jennings. Mrs. Sonnier was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bailey and husband Donald of Napoleonville, Charlotte Berken and husband Donald of Welsh; one sister, Alice Jane McFarland of Lake Charles; one brother, Claude Broussard of Kinder; grandchildren, Patrick Berken and wife Crystal, Nicholas Berken and wife Maranda, Ashley Rickman and husband David, Jennifer Berken (Brian Bradford), Mark Bailey and wife Andrea; great-grandchildren, Kayla Berken, Preston Berken, Tucker Berken and Cole Berken. Mrs. Sonnier is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Alice Gary Broussard; husband, Howard Joseph Sonnier; son, Leonard J. Sonnier; sister, Ida Allemand; and four brothers, Carrol, Vern, Douglas and Lloyd Broussard.
