Mrs. Leona Collard

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Leona Vallo Collard, 91, recently of Jennings, will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Trey Ange officiating. Burial will follow at Gueydan Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Collard will begin on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, and will close at 9:15 a.m. for the procession to church.

Mary Leona Vallo Collard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

Leona, 91, was born in Klondike, Louisiana to Charlie and Eunice Vincent Vallo. She was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Gueydan High School as Valedictorian of her class.

Leona married George “Bill” Wilbur Collard and cherished their 60 years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling and attending family reunions with Bill, as well as working by his side in their businesses, including Roadmasters and Bill’s Wrecker. She was a proud “stay at home” mother of their three children. Leona found contentment in the simple joys of life and cherished spending time with her family.

Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Lynn (Michael) Klumpp; five granddaughters, Rachael (Paul) Dupuy, Bridget Klumpp, Jodi (Blaine) Landry, Monica Klumpp and Christina Klumpp; one grandson, Brandon (Cassie) Broussard; thirteen great grandchildren; son-in-law Benton Broussard; stepson, Chris Collard; sister-in-law Gardeline Vallo and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie, and Eunice Vallo; beloved husband, George W. Collard; son, Billy Collard; daughter, Charmienne Broussard; siblings; Burney Vallo, Harris Vallo, Wanda Reese, and Gertie Lopez; godson, Henry Reese, and niece Gayle Reese Riehl.

Carrying Mrs. Collard to her place of rest will be pallbearers Brandon Broussard, Blaine Landry, Bradley Broussard, Ross Landry, Brady Broussard, and Paul Dupuy IV. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Klumpp, Benton Broussard, Paul Dupuy III and Andrew Dupuy.
