Leola Mae Lopez Prejean

It is with great sadness that the family of Leola Mae Lopez PreJean, 87, Announces the passing from this into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on June 25, 2021.  Leola was the youngest of 5 children born of Homer and Irma Fontenot Lopez on February 4, 1934.  She was an amazing sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.   Leola Mae married the love of her life Claude Martin PreJean on June 12, 1954 and shared 42 amazing years together.  They are now reunited in heaven, where he has been waiting for her and oh what a reunion that will be!

Leola leaves behind three beautiful daughters, Debra Ann “Debbie” Richard of Jennings, Irma Jean (Jorge) Miranda of Byron, Ga., and Angela Kaye “Angie” Gotreaux of Jennings.  Five Loving grandchildren Greg (Julie) Richard of Jennings, Falisha (Jason) LeJeune of Mermentau, Jonathan Miranda of Houston, Tx., Kaleb Gotreaux of Jennings and Carmelita (Joey) McKinney of Macon, Ga.  Four precious great grandchildren Cooper and Ella LeJeune and Avery Richard. 

Those angels that left too soon, an infant son, grandson Joshua Miranda and great grandson Bradan Allemand.  She is also reunited in heaven with her son-in-law Robert “T-boy” Richard; her parents; her siblings, Edna Leger, Helen Doucet, Wilson Lopez, and Willie Lopez.

Leola loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, the apple of her eyes. She graduated from Lacassine High School in 1953. She was a retired cafeteria worker with the Jefferson Davis School Board.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren and also donating them to auctions for those suffering from cancer.  Leola also enjoyed reading her Danielle Steele books, making dolls, baking, and canning preserves and figs. And above all praying her daily rosary.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she devoted her time to adoration every week and a member of the Ladies Altar Society.  Leola will be greatly missed by all, especially her devoted family.

A Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 2 p.m., in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings Louisiana. Visitation will be held at Miguez Funeral Home beginning on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 3 p.m. with the rosary recited by her sister-in-law Jackie PreJean at 6 p.m. with music by Paul and Shellie Hebert and continuing until 9 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 30 from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass.

She will be put to rest beside her loving husband in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings Louisiana under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. 

Those honoring her wishes by carrying her to her final resting place will be Greg Richard, Jonathan Miranda, Kaleb Gotreaux, Jason LeJeune, Cooper LeJeune, and Wayne PreJean, with Ella LeJeune leading. Honorary pallbearer Falisha LeJeune, Carmelita Mckinney and Avery Richard.
